For more than three centuries, Sant Hilari Sacalm has celebrated its Living Via Crucis, preserving the processional tradition that is passed down from father to son.
An image of the Hilarien procession are the armed men who walk the streets of the town. This year the Via Crucis is celebrated on April 7 and begins with the departure of the mysteries from the parish church and at 9 in the afternoon the representation of the dam of Jesus begins in the Gethsemane Garden (in the Gardens of Can Rovira ). After parading through the old town, the final firecracker arrives at midnight at Calvario (on the outskirts of town), with the scene of the crucifixion, one of the most emotional. Thousands of people gather and give fame to the procession of the capital of the Guilleries. The magnificent interpretation of the Roman soldiers, Jesus, Judas and the rest of the characters involved, together with excellent lighting and underlined with the acoustics of the music, captivating locals and strangers.
